Steve Hoffman, | PT, ATC, SCS
Steve is the owner of NHOSPT, a private practice that he opened in 1993. Steve is one of the most respected physical therapists in Western Pennsylvania, and his numerous accolades reflect his impressive body of work. In 2013, the APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) awarded Steve with the Henry O. and Florence P. Kendall Practice Award. He is Board Certified in Sports Physical Therapy and is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).
Steve graduated from SUNY Buffalo in 1978, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. He then earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Health Sciences Education from Case Western Reserve University (Case) in 1980. Upon graduation from Case, Steve worked as an Athletic Trainer for the North Allegheny School District from 1980-1993. At the same time, he was also a Rehabilitation Consultant to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a position he held until 1994, when NHOSPT became his primary focus.
Steve’s Clinical Interests include Private Practice and Professional Autonomy, Sports Physical Therapy, Clinical Research, Athletic Shoulder Injuries, Running Biomechanics, and Specialization Certification.
Steve truly enjoys what he does, and dedicates himself to his craft beyond the doors of NHOSPT. He is a member of many professional organizations, including the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), and both the Sports and Orthopedic Sections of the APTA. He is also a member of the Private Practice Network of Pennsylvania and the Private Practice Section of the APTA. Steve has authored 29 book chapters, journal articles, and case studies and is a consultant for Orthopedic PT Practice Magazine. He is a clinical instructor in physical therapy, having conducted more than 75 courses and seminars at various institutions, including Slippery Rock University, West Virginia University, Duquesne University, and Chatham University.
